Question:
I am attending a law enforcement academy in January 2008 what can I expect?
Just wanted to know the kinds of things I can expect at the academy.
I am attending the acedemy in Northern Virginia

1) Where?
2) Brainwashing and a gun.
3) Hard work and dedication and the desire to be and do your best. Its serious business and it will shape your future as a police officer. Good Luck give it your personal best... And for all you cop haters ..Next time your in trouble and need our help...call a plumber
4) Early mornings, alot of PT, long hours in the classroom, long hours doing practicals, bad food, & just enough sleep to survive. The first week will probably be the worst. That's when you're getting used to everything & trying to settle in. It's really what you make of it. Good Luck
5) You can expect to flunk.......
6) alot of knowledge of your state laws. "what if " scenarios. driving skills ALOT of physical training ! ! ! ! ! ! report writing practice accident investigstions many hours at the gun range pepper spray to your face :) to many to mention all
7) lots of work. find a good study group that can help you.that worked wonders when i went to the academy.study groups were the key yo getting all the info. you may miss something and someone else get it.here in texas we were required to turn in a notebook. the notebook was about the thickness of 3 big phone groups.do not be afraid to ask questions.fingerprint school was the hardest thing i ever did.i studied with my group for about a week.do the above things and listen well. expect the unexpected and be prepared for anything
