Answers:
1) Are these derogatory items in collections? The derogatory items should be disputed with the bureaus reporting them. It usually takes 30 to 45 days for the results which get mailed to you. If you have any open credit cards, try to keep the balance-to-limit-ratio's low. Your balance-to-limit-ratio is the difference between your balances and your limits. Its not enough paying your credit cards in a timely manner. You must keep your balances low. The further the balance from the limit the better the credit score. For best credit score results, keep balances 30% or lower.
2) Start by pulling all three of your credit reports at www.annualcreditreport.com. Go over them carefully and follow the dispute procedures if any information there is wrong.
3) you need to check with the credit bureau, and dispute this information so that they can take it off of your report, as soon as possible.
