Can I use my debit card instead of a credit card even though they ask you for a credit card info online?*

Can you use a debit card, instead of a credit card when they ask you. The reason is because I want to buy a shirt at gomerch.com, and while going through the billing info they ask you to put credit card info. I only have a debit card and I was wondering if I could use my debit card instead of a credit card?

Answers:

1) Yes, as long as your debit card has a Visa or MasterCard logo on it. But, beware that you do not have the same fraud protection with a debit card as you do with a credit card. If someone steals you debit card number they can take all your money out of your checking account and your other checks will bounce. If you are going to be doing online shopping regularly you can get either a PayPal or Google Checkout account which many sites allow you to pay with. (They are generally safer than putting your debit card number directly in a site.) OR you can get a prepaid credit card from the grocery store.

2) if the debit card has a visa or mastercard logo on it the yes you may.

3) yes, just be careful!!

4) yes so long as it is a visa card
