Are there any draw backs to siging up for Lifelock credit protection?*
I saw on TV and was wondering if anyone knows of any reasons not to do it?
Answers:
1) It is not worth the money you'll spend. It is not a true 'protection' service - all it does is notify you of any activity involving your credit. Don't waste your hard earned dollars! Please note that an official from Lifelock was recently in the news because HIS credit was compromised. This service doesn't STOP any fraudulent activity - it only notifies the credit victim.
2) they are being sued/ from what i understand they put a alert on your credit bureau which you can do yourself for less money. they dont prevent fraud
3) The monthly fee is a waste of money, as is the case with most credit monitoring services. You can freeze your credit files yourself for much less money.
4) freezing your credit file is $10 one time payment and last a while. Do you research here. http://www.consumersunion.org/campaigns/learn_more/003484indiv.html If you are a victim of identity theft, credit freeze is free for you. Credit freeze is the only legit one out there.
