Credit Repair Service?*

Can anyone recommend a good credit repair service, or a do-it-yourself guide? My husband and I are working VERY hard to pay off our debts, but we would like to attack our low credit score from all angles. Any suggestions?

Answers:

1) First get your credit report. Look it over carefully. Highlight, mark any thing on it that you think is wrong. Then dispute each item that you feel is wrong. For instance, if you see that you paid off a card and it is showing that you owe money let the credit companies know (that is Experian, TrueCredit, and Equifax) they have to address it or remove it. The only other thing you can go is wait. Time takes off bad portion as they get stale dated. Just remember NOT to accept any credit card with a "fine print" that you will pay off a bad debt because then that reset the clock to zero and you have to start all over again. Further, don't apply for any cards for a year. Just applying for a card lowers your score. Pay cash. Good luck.

2) Don't pay anyone for credit repair. You can do everything yourself. If you are having trouble getting started, I have some free tips on my website to point you in the right direction. Check my profile for the link. Good luck!

3) First, buy only what you can afford. put nothing on credit until you pay off your old debt. Work with cash since it is more visible and you will realize when you are running low. Make no frivilous purchases. If you don't need it you can't afford it.The best way to manage money is to do it yourself and use more than a little restraint. Spend less than you make even if it means beans and rice twice a week.

4) Avoid credit repair agencies that charge a fee to improve your FICO score by removing negative, but accurate, information from your credit reports. No one can force credit reporting agencies or lenders to remove accurate information from a credit report. Credit repair companies often take your money without delivering what they promise, or provide only temporary improvements of your score, sometimes by removing accurate information that will reappear later. You can do your own repair by just knowing what to do and how to do it. This link to the FTC will let you download information on disputing entries with the CRA's http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/menus/consumer/credit/reports.shtm Download a pdf file regarding how to dispute with CRA's Many repair services will lower interest and some of the ballances but at a cost that will haunt your credit for more then 7 years. They offer lower pay offs and the creditor will just closse the account and charge off the rest (this is not a good thing). You also have to pay fees which cost you more in the long run. 5) I tried it myself . I wrote the letters to credit bureaus. About 1/2 came off( the old ones). The rest . The bureau wrote back saying they were confirmed. I tried three more times in a year no luck. I called alot of companies. The one I would and did choose, was creditgard@gmail.com . Not the .com. This company was on craigslist. anyway it worked ,and worked fast . I had zero - nothing negative on my credit they took all the bad off. Like I said I called alot . I found that the real cheap ones were useless and the mega expensive once wanted a contract. Like qwest or lexington Good Luck

6) Hi, I used "Credit Solution" to settle my debt and avoid bankruptcy. They managed to reduce my debt up to 58%.It's legitimate.I came across this company on NBC News Special Edition.Check it out here: http://redirx.com/?0g4c
