Can I find an auto loan source that decides using only the Experian score?*
My credit scores vary by 100 points from one agency to another. The Experian score is the highest.
Answers:
1) Most dealerships pull a blended report (one that has all 3 scores) and will automatically "shotgun" your report to lenders that use the bureau with the highest score, or will default to that one. Smaller companies typically subscribe to one bureau (Equifax is the most common) but will consider your report if you have a copy less than 30 days old that shows a FICO score.
2) Texans Credit Union is my experience (4/2007) only checked my Experian Score. HSBC and Capital One and Roadloans checked all 3.
3) I think it's just a crapshoot. You don't know which one they use. It's basically personal preference for the business.
4) I work in banking and we use Equifax primarily. I'm not sure why, but most financial institutions use Equifax as well. Your credit score should not vary THAT greatly from one report to the next. If it does, then I suggest that you look into it to see what is causing the disparity. One hundred points is quite significant. It could be the difference between being barely able to afford the car that you're trying to purchase to not being able to purchase it at all.
5) 100 point difference is quite a bit... you should look into that a bit more. But, a lot of lenders look at your lowest score for applying interest rates, unfortunetly. good luck though.
