What action can I take because my debit card number was stolen?*
So yesterday i called Apple up to cancel my mobile me account and get a refund. The girl I spoke with ask me to verify my security question answer and last 4 digits of my debit number so she could credit the account. About 3 hours later I checked my bank account and noticed a charge was made to a home depot store on the other side of the United States only 30 miles from the Apple headquarters. (I am in Alabama and this was in CA) I closed the card but I found it strange that if happened after talking with Apple and so close to their headquarters. I am thinking that an employee took my card number from their computer and charged the home depot order online. I think they did it online for instore pickup or delivery because they did not have the card. If we do get the IP address and find the person who did it can we do anything about it other than having them arrested. If it was an Apple employee can we go after apple for not protecting our privacy? Etc...

Answers:
1) All you have to do is dispute the transaction with your bank and they will refund you the money. Let your bank and Home Depot work it out with the law because in the end, your bank and Home Depot have legal teams to deal with this kind of stuff. You can't go after Apple for this kind of stuff. Apple will look bad for hiring such employees but one out of 50,000 employees will be an a**hole at the very least.
2) You probably could go after Apple, but, remember, their phones may be subject to intrusion..
3) Call your bank and let them know. They will cancel the card and reissue you a new one. Other than that, many banks have different policies on whether you are responcible for the charges or not. Talk to your bank and find out.
4) You should contact your bank and give them all of these details. They will do an investigation. If there is any way that they can prove the person at Apple made this purchase, he or she WILL be arrested.
5) You must notify the bank immediately, you only have 2 days to report from the day you find out, after that you can be liable up to $500. The bank can research it and get back to you in like 10 days or something like that. Good luck to you
