Credit report question?*
How long does it take for the credit bureaus to update your information? I just checked on Experian and they had my current employer at a place I haven't worked at in over 2 years and there was nothing about my present employer. Several accounts were showing still open when I have paid them off in the past 6 months and it still showed that a car I had paid off and sold over 2 years ago with an open account.
I have the paperwork stating that the accounts are paid off.
Answers:
1) The credit agencies report what they know to be true. Call them or send them a letter of dispute correcting your information and they will correct it if it is proven to be true.
2) You can call the companies and ask them to report your current status to the credit bureaus
3) You need to write them and have this corrected, as it should have been taken care of a long time ago. I would send the letter certified and keep a copy of everything I send. They have a duty to investigate and correct all the info.
4) it only reports what it is given. You need to dispute the closed accounts so the merchant has to update for all records. If you have not applied for credit in the past couple of years and there will not be an update as to employment Status until you do so as there is no reason for any one to enter that info on your report so the system picks up no changes there
5) If your employment information wasn't provided to the credit bureau they really have no means of updating it. If it's a bother to you, you can simply call them and update it. Ditto for the accounts that are still showing as open.
