Answers:
1) This is completely incorrect.... - Debt collectors are not obligated to accept any token amount you send and stop collection activities ..they have the right to refuse amounts that are too small
2) No,,that is not true,,if you don't pay it will also stay on your credit report for 7 to 10 years depending where you live
3) They are under no obligation to accept whatever you offer. Of course then they can sue you and let the count decide. Usually the court will then accept your payment offer as long as it's reasonable
4) Try to negotiate with the debt collector so that an agreed amount is set. Failure to do so will negatively affect your credit, can cause liens or repossesions, or involve courts to settle bankruptcies or disputes.
5) That is not true.
6) You are wrong. The collection agency actually has a great case to present to the court. You did not nor have you attempted to make a good faith payment. 1 or 20 is not a payment. So add court costs and fees to your debt. Garnishee of your salary and attaching your bank accounts is next
7) This is an urban legend. There is no such thing as a "good faith" payment. The collector can actually take whatever small payment you send, and sue you. Making small payments will just restart the Statute of Limitation (SOL), the timeframe to bring lawsuit.
8) That just isn't true. If it was everyone would come out debt free just by sending in a $1. Read what Car Dad told you, he's right
