If I find someone's credit card and use it can I get found out?*

If I find someones credit card like on the street or something and buy things on credit and just copy their signitature - can i be found out - like obviously it would stop working evantually or if they cancel their card, but are their like tracking devices or whatever on cards?

Answers:

1) UUmmm yeah!! DUH!

2) They will find you.

3) The credit card company would know when and where the card was used. Using that info, they can acquire more information to help catch the perpetrator, but I don't want to give you any tips. It's theft of goods (whatever you purchased) and it's identity theft. You can (and should) go to jail for this.

4) Yes and probably jailed for theft

5) There are cameras every where and the cops will get your photo and plaster it on the news and you will go to jail.

6) Nope...sounds good. The credit card companies won't actually care enough to find you. Live it up.

7) Why would you even ask? There are lots of ways to catch people who commit felonies. It's the main reason our prisons are full.

8) It would obviously be reported, and the credit card company would be able to report any use to the police/authorities. They (credit card company) also have a track of what is bought, when, and where(location of the store). If you were to buy something over the internet, most websites also keep track of any shipping addresses, contact numbers, e-mail addresses, IP addresses, etc. So either way, you can, and will, be tracked. As others mentioned, it is identity theft as well as theft of goods.

9) There are ways to find you and charge you for forgery

10) Is this question hypothetical, if not they will track you via your IP address. They will hunt you down, you have nowhere to hide. Live in fear and stay sharp you might evade them a few times, but they will always be close by...watching your every move. Nah Im only messing, if you find a credit card that's not yours they cannot track you if you don't use it. If ever you find a card you should hand it into the bank. I wouldn't want to mess about in a system I don't know. If I worked in a bank, knew the how the system worked and what its limitations were I'd think of ways to get around it. But if you don't discover the limitations you are much like a lamb led to slaughter. Plus never believe what anyone tells you, you have to work out the limitations and go around them, you cant trust anyone so don't tell anyone or ask anyone. Oh oh you have just broken the two cardinal sins from this one question alone. Now you're screwed.

11) So, why would you want to commit a felony? Yes, you will be found out. They have cameras at stores that will have your face showing. LOL Also, if you use it online, they will trace your IP # and get your name and address from your ISP. LOL Another thing to remember, is that if the card has been reported stolen and you are at a store trying to use it...it will alert the clerk who will try to detain you until the cops arrive to arrest you. Do you really want to chance the embarrassment of being led out in handcuffs? ugh Why not do the right thing and call the 800# on the back of the card and report that you found it? Would you want someone to steal from you?
