ebay, pay-pal, and debit/ credit card question.?*

hi i have a question about a purchase i just made on ebay. my bank is bank of America. to make a purchase i used my debit card through pay pal. now i noticed that after i made the purchase it said credit, now the problem is i have no experience with credit cards. so i was just wondering since i gave pay-pal my card number (my debit card also says visa on it) does that money come straight out of my account or does it mean i made a purchase on credit. by the way it says the purchase was complete and i got a receipt emailed to me.
